TRENDS Intervention Tools
Teachers and specialists
Using TRENDS data on Incidents and Concerns to identify problems, teachers can view proactive intervention suggestions.
TRENDS provides all staff immediate access to 500 function-based plans that address more than 100 common behavior problems from the Teacher’s Encyclopedia of Behavior Management. By answering a few simple questions, every teacher in the school can access detailed step-by-step intervention suggestions for dealing with such issues as:
- A student who chronically complains about everything to get attention
- A class of students who just chat all the time
- A student who picks at and constantly bothers other students, but doesn’t even seem aware he is doing it
- Three students who make sarcastic comments and laugh and reinforce each other
- And over 100 more!
- Select a problem from the Teacher’s Encyclopedia Table of Contents.
- Use the question-and-answer-based decision guide to identify a possible primary function of the misbehavior.
- Review the intervention plan overview. If the plan overview describes the problem, review the details of the plan (you can use the plan as is or modify as appropriate). If the plan overview does not describe the problem, return to the decision guide to investigate other plans.
- Implement the plan. Each detailed plan covers:
- Preparation
- Designing the Plan
- Fillable, Printable Forms/Contracts (if needed)
- Implementation Guidance
- How to Evaluate the Situation/Plan
- Monitor results with TRENDS tracking.
